Artist Statement:

    The animated gif that I created through my knowledge of Adobe Photoshop explores the emotional journey of a coffee cup, personifying it with expressions of sadness when empty and joy when filled. I began the process of creating my animation my collecting all my images and placing them in separate layers & folders in order to stay organized within my new photoshop file. I then began my frame animation by clicking "timeline" within the "window" tab at the top of the screen. Next, I turned on/off layers and moved the different elements of my animation to their desire places in each frame to create the key frames of my piece. I then added in-betweens and changed the speed of each frame to make my animation move as smoothy as possible. After creating my core animation, I added a scene that included my tag brush in the form of latte art on each of the three coffee mugs, before transitioning to the credits and ending frames to conclude my piece. Through this playful narrative, I aimed to convey the simple pleasure and comfort that a full cup of coffee brings, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between our emotions and daily rituals.

     After viewing the documentary based upon the art of Platon's photography, portraits in particular, I feel as if I have gained knowledge on the importance of emotion behind photography as well. Platon explains how his portraits and what is captured is dependent on both his and his subject mood and state of mind in that brief moment when the photo is captured. Platon is specifically known for his portraits of famous world leaders, often featured as the cover of Time Magazine. These portraits allow for the subjects to express the emotions surrounding power and therefore send a message to the Time Magazine's American viewers.     Once I had reached the end of this documentary episode by "Abstract: The Art of Design", I followed the next link in the assignment in order to view "The People's Portfolio". Id Homework 1

VIDEO 1 :    This video provided a brief overview of the basic functions of Adobe InDesign. The video starts by the narrator reassuring the viewer that if they are familiar with both Illustrator and PhotoShop, that this program's tools will be relatively familiar and easy to operate. Next, the creator explains both the "selection" and "direct selection" tools, which I feel will be easy to operate as they are very to similar to that of the selection tools in Adobe Illustrator. Additionally, he reviews both the "type" tool and "type on path" tool, which we became familiar with in Adobe illustrator while creating both the Calligram and Poster projects. Lastly, the narrator reviews the multidimensionality of the "pen" tool which we once again used quite a bit in Illustrator.
