Id Homework 1

VIDEO 1:
This video provided a brief overview of the basic functions of Adobe InDesign. The video starts by the narrator reassuring the viewer that if they are familiar with both Illustrator and PhotoShop, that this program's tools will be relatively familiar and easy to operate. Next, the creator explains both the "selection" and "direct selection" tools, which I feel will be easy to operate as they are very to similar to that of the selection tools in Adobe Illustrator. Additionally, he reviews both the "type" tool and "type on path" tool, which we became familiar with in Adobe illustrator while creating both the Calligram and Poster projects. Lastly, the narrator reviews the multidimensionality of the "pen" tool which we once again used quite a bit in Illustrator. Overall, I believe InDesign will be fairly simple to become proficient in, as I have already mastered many of the tools it shares in similarly to Adobe Illustrator through previous projects.

This tutorial was a VoiceOver video that covered the basic tools of Adobe InDesign. The content creator starts off with a brief introduction of Adobe Indesign and its similarities with Illustrator and PhotoShop. Next, she moves in to discussing the "selection" tools, as the previous video also began by explaining. Then, the narrator transitions into explaining the "page" tool, which allows you to change the sizing of your page. Following this, she begins to review the "content collector" tool, which basically an InDesign version of a copy/paste. I believe it is important to be acquainted with the basic InDesign tools and features and where certain tools are located in order to be successful in creating your final piece. Furthermore, the creator explains how to utilize the "pen" tool which we are also familiar with from our Illustrator skills at this time. I believe all these tools will eventually be helpful in planning the selection, shape, and sizing of my next project that will be completed in InDesign.

Similarly to the previous tutorial, this video provides an introductory level explanation of the basic tools and process required for one to have knowledge of, in order to create both simple and complex projects within Adobe InDesign. The narrator proceeded to explain the "selection" tools within InDesign and where they are located within the left-side task bar. Next, he shows the viewers how to transform the image they imported into a higher quality picture through the use of "display performance" located under the "view" tab.  I think this tool will be very useful in giving  the figures and images in my projects a higher quality look and seems fairly simple to access and use. Like the narrator in the previous video, he  reviews the "type" tools and there location within the task bar, along with the "rectangle" tool and the variety of shapes that can be made with this feature. Overall, when the tutorials are followed along with I found the explanation of their usage and the tools themselves fairly straightforward to implement and allow for a lot of customization. I look forward to incorporating what I have learned from the tutorials and my work in Illustrator and PhotoShop into my upcoming Adobe InDesign project.
